LCS Parental Involvement Meeting Speakers

On Monday, May 6, Ms. Sara Blackmon, Linden City Schools Parental Involvement Coordinator, hosted the district's annual parental involvement meeting at Linden High School for the 2024 academic year. Senator Bobby Singleton was the speaker for the evening.

Sen. Singleton spoke to parents about the importance of being involved in their children's education in all aspects. Parents, who remain active in the school system, see improvements in their children's behavior, attendance, and grades as well as in their social skills and ability to adjust to a new environment. Long-term success is mostly dependent on students having a lifetime passion for learning, which is more safely fostered by parental participation. He also spoke about how important it is for parents to get involved and be informed about the legislative processes as it concerns funding for public schools.

Additionally, several parents, students, and fellow educators, who were in attendance, won door prizes that were sponsored by each school and other organizations. Refreshments were also served.

Linden City Schools are grateful for the parents, students, and faculty members, who attended and supported the event. Additionally, we are incredibly grateful to Sen. Bobby Singleton for creating some time in his busy schedule to speak with us.
