Dr. Thurman, Mr.  Bryant, and Dr. Mackey

Dr. Timothy Thurman, the superintendent of Linden City Schools, and Richard Bryant, the principal of Linden Elementary School, traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, on Thursday, February 8, 2024, to attend the February State Board Meeting, which was held in the Gordon Persons Auditorium.  Both gentlemen received resolutions in recognition of the Legislative School Performance Program Award on behalf of the Linden City School District and Linden Elementary School for its accomplishments on the state report card.  Linden Elementary received a letter grade of "B" and a  score of 83, which qualified as excellent progress by moving up one or more letter grades in the overall annual ranking of the school grading system. 

Schools are encouraged to employ instructional programs that enhance student achievement by the Alabama State Board of Education. The Alabama State Department of Education developed the Legislative School Performance Recognition Program, which awards public schools with outstanding improvement or in the top 25%. The program honors exceptional student accomplishment and constructive educational advancements made by public schools around the state. The board commends these schools for their commitment to raising student achievement.
